One ongoing service opportunity available for those local to Arlington, MA is to collect and deliver food to residents living in low income housing. With the help of Panera and Food Link, we deliver high quality, nutritious food that would otherwise be wasted to residents of Menotomy Manor.
- On Monday nights, the pick-up team collects donated bread from nearby Panera locations (Alewife and Porter Square) and drops it off in the kitchen of Highrock Church.
- On Tuesday afternoons, we take the bread to the Arlington High School cafeteria, where a second team wraps all the bread and puts it in individual bags for delivery to families in Arlington.
- On Tuesday evenings, a third team delivers the wrapped bread and other fresh food donations (e.g. high quality meat provided by Food Link) to over 30 families who live at Menotomy Manor in Arlington. Our delivery team enjoys getting to know our neighbors as we talk about life, God, and anything else on their minds.
The Food Collection and Delivery program has been in place for about a decade through the efforts of Highrock Arlington.
